Self-Perform Work
Sixty-eight tradespeople carry a Gantry badge. When the most schedule-critical scopes belong to our own crews, we control the pace of the job instead of renting it.
Why a GC self-performs
Every project's critical path runs through two or three trades. When those trades are subcontracted, the GC manages them by persuasion. When they are in-house, productivity is a number we see daily: cubic yards placed, studs framed, doors hung, and cost per unit against estimate. That data feeds straight back into preconstruction, which is why our budgets hold. Self-perform is not a sideline for us; it is the engine of the schedule guarantees we sign.
Safety follows the badge
Self-perform crews are where a safety culture is either real or theater. Our crews run pre-task plans every shift, and our current 0.68 EMR (illustrative, like all demo figures) is built on their record. Subcontractors on our sites work under the same rules, run by superintendents who came up through these crews and know what a shortcut looks like.
Quality that closes out clean
The scopes we self-perform are the scopes that generate punch lists: concrete flatness, framing tolerances, door hardware. Owning them means our closeout binders reconcile and our warranty phone stays quiet. Our slabs are measured by a third party and the FF and FL numbers go in the book, whether they flatter us or not.
