Home/Metal Roofing/Standing Seam
Metal RoofingStanding seam: the specified roof.
Vertical panels, concealed fasteners, mechanical seams. Standing seam is what a roof looks like when it is engineered instead of layered, and it is the system we install most in the hail alley.
What you are actually buying.
- Panels: 24 gauge steel standard (26 gauge on budget scopes), roll-formed in continuous lengths, eave to ridge, no horizontal laps.
- Seams: mechanically double-locked at 1.5 to 2 inches high. The fasteners live inside the seam, so nothing penetrates the weather surface.
- Finish: factory-baked PVDF coatings warrantied against chalk and fade for decades; matte charcoal, slate gray, and bronze lead our Wichita orders.
- Underlayment: high-temp ice-and-water and synthetic layers rated for metal's expansion cycles.
- Ratings: the highest impact classification issued for hail, wind uplift past 140 mph when mechanically seamed, and Class A fire.
Install honesty
Standing seam fails at the details, not the panels: penetrations, valleys, and eave terminations decide whether the roof lasts fifty years or fifteen. Our metal crews do metal only, builds run three to five days, and every penetration is flashed and photographed for the final report. This is also why we would rather lose a bid than rush a seam job into a hail-season backlog.
Typical install investment runs 2 to 3 times asphalt, or from about $189/mo financed (illustrative demo figures). The comparison page puts the lifetime math side by side, and financing frames the monthly number.
