At 9:40 on a Tuesday morning, a drywall crew at Marker 9 Offices logged the hour that put Gantry past one million craft hours without a lost-time incident, a streak that reaches back 34 months across every active site.
We are suspicious of safety milestones as marketing. A streak is partly luck, and any safety director who says otherwise is selling something. So instead of a banner, here is the ledger behind the number: 11,400 pre-task plans completed in that span, 96 stop-work calls made by craft workers and every one of them thanked in writing, four near-miss investigations that changed a company standard, and a current EMR of 0.68.
The stop-work number is the one we watch. A site where workers stop work 96 times without fear of consequence is a site where the streak is being earned rather than gambled. Safety director Priya Ramesh reports those calls to the president monthly, unfiltered by operations, which is the org-chart decision we would defend above any slogan.
The streak will end someday; streaks do. The systems that produced it are the point, and they are audited quarterly by an outside firm precisely so we cannot grade our own homework.
