Since 2004
A builder that shows its work.
Gantry was founded on an unfashionable idea: that a general contractor's numbers, schedule, cost, and safety, should be published to the client as a matter of habit, not extracted under pressure.
The pickup truck ledger
In 2004 Ray Castellano was a carpenter foreman with a concrete crew, a used pickup, and a spiral notebook where he logged every pour: yards placed, hours burned, cost per yard against his own estimate. When a developer client noticed that the notebook's numbers never flinched, he asked Ray to run a whole building. The notebook became a company.
Twenty-two years later the notebook is a live cost model and a monthly report format, but the habit is unchanged. Every Gantry project publishes its milestone ledger to the owner weekly. Every estimate is built from measured production data, not database averages. Every closeout binder includes the QC numbers whether they flatter us or not.
Why "Gantry"
A gantry is the frame that carries the crane. It does not get photographed; it holds the thing that does. That felt right for a company whose best work is invisible by the time the ribbon is cut: the budget that held, the schedule that landed, the trade partners who got paid on time and came back for the next one.
Where we work
The Sacramento Valley, deliberately. Roseville to Elk Grove, Davis to Folsom. Regional focus is a business decision: our superintendents sleep at home, our subs know our paper, and our cost history actually matches the market we price. When a project needs us ninety minutes away we say yes carefully, and when it needs us in another state we say no fast and recommend someone good.
| 2004 | Ray Castellano founds Gantry with one concrete crew and a promise: publish the numbers. |
| 2008 | First ground-up commercial building, a 14,000 SF office in Rancho Cordova, delivered nine days early. |
| 2013 | Self-perform grows to three trades; the unit-cost database becomes the estimating spine. |
| 2017 | First $100M revenue year. The monthly cost report format owners still get today is standardized. |
| 2021 | Bonding program reaches $150M aggregate. Special projects group formed for occupied-site work. |
| 2024 | Cumulative delivered square footage passes four million. Stonebridge Clinic opens in Folsom. |
| 2026 | Riverworks Lofts tops out. One million craft hours without a lost-time incident. |

The people
Six leaders. One ledger.
The leadership bench came up through the field and the estimating room, and it shows in what they measure.

Safety is a published number too.
EMR, stop-work calls, hours without lost time: the safety ledger reads like the cost report, because it is run like one.
