The eleven crafts.

Everything a garden needs, from the first drawing to its fortieth year, practiced under one roof by our own designers, gardeners, and masons. Design leads; every other craft works from the drawing.

01

Landscape DesignMaster planning

Every garden begins as a drawing. Site study, concept, planting plan, and an honest investment analysis before a single stone moves.

02

Landscape ConstructionThe build

One dedicated crew from groundbreak to final rake. Stone first, structures next, plants last, and the site left cleaner than we found it.

03

Patios & WalkwaysStonework

Kentucky limestone, thermal bluestone, and clay brick, laid dry or on a proper base by masons who think in decades.

04

Outdoor KitchensThe working terrace

Masonry kitchens built into the garden, not bolted onto the house: stone counters, real storage, and a fire you cook on.

05

Fire & Water FeaturesThe gathering points

Fire terraces for the cold months, reflecting pools and rills for the hot ones. The garden's two magnets, built in stone.

06

Pergolas & Garden StructuresCarpentry

Pergolas, arbors, and garden buildings in oak and cedar, joined the old way and built to carry fifty years of vines.

07

Outdoor LightingThe evening garden

Low, warm, and aimed with intent. Lighting that gives you the garden back after dark without announcing itself to the street.

08

Planting & Garden DesignThe living material

Layered planting built on natives and proven cultivars, designed to look composed in every one of the twelve months.

09

Irrigation & Water ManagementInfrastructure

Drip-first irrigation, smart controllers, and drainage that moves storm water where it belongs. The garden's plumbing, done quietly.

10

Estate CareStewardship

A standing crew, a horticulturist's eye, and a calendar tuned to your garden. The gardens we keep are the proof of the ones we build.

11

Seasonal ServicesThe turning points

Spring wake-up, autumn planting and cleanup, dormant pruning, and storm response, timed to the garden's calendar rather than ours.

How the crafts fit

One drawing, many hands.

A Hedgerow & Vale garden is never eleven separate purchases. The master plan decides where stone, water, light, and planting belong; the crafts execute it in the only order that works. If you are starting from scratch, start with Landscape Design. If you know exactly what you need, start with the craft and we will still begin with a drawing, just a smaller one.

See the four movements of the process

Begin with a walk in the garden.

The first meeting is a morning on your property: no drawings, no obligation, just an honest read of the ground and how you want to live on it.
