“Drain guy walked me through three options from a printed rate card before touching a tool. Picked the middle one. No upsell, no drama, done in an hour.”
The expensive part of a hidden leak is rarely the fix; it is the hunting. Kelvin techs locate before they cut, with acoustic listening gear, thermal imaging, and pressure isolation, so the wall opens once, in the right place. The $79 plumbing diagnostic (illustrative) covers the hunt and folds into the repair when you approve it.
Ceiling stain, a water bill that jumped forty dollars with no explanation, the sound of running water in a quiet house, or a slab-floor warm spot: all four are the same phone call, and it is one we treat with urgency because water damage compounds daily.
The leaks we chase
- Pinholes in aging copper, usually on hot lines first
- Slab leaks announcing themselves as warm spots or spinning meters
- Polybutylene-era piping (gray plastic, 1978 to 1995): repipe conversation, not a patch
- Failed shutoff and supply valves under sinks and toilets
- Hose bibs split by a hard freeze, discovered the first warm Saturday
Patch, or fix the pattern
One pinhole gets a flat rate repair and honest context: pinholes cluster, and the second one within a year is the pipe telling you its era is ending. When that day comes, our repipe crews convert a whole house to PEX-A in two to four days, water off only during working hours, walls opened surgically and closed by our own drywall finisher, paint-ready.
Every repipe quote is room-by-room so you can see the scope, and includes new quarter-turn shutoffs at every fixture, a new main shutoff you can actually turn, and permit and inspection handled (fictional permitting for this demo). Repipes carry a 10 year workmanship warranty (illustrative).

Fair questions
How bad is a small ceiling stain, really?
The stain is the last chapter of a story that has been running a while. Small and dry now beats big and wet later; the diagnostic visit will tell you which one you have.
Will insurance cover any of this?
Policies commonly cover the water damage but not the failed pipe itself. We document everything with photos and a written cause statement, which is exactly what adjusters ask for. (General information, not insurance advice.)
PEX or copper for the repipe?
We install both and will quote both if you want. PEX-A wins on freeze tolerance, fewer joints, and cost; copper wins on tradition. Nine of ten clients choose PEX once they see the numbers.

“Booked online at 9:40 pm for a leaking shutoff valve. Dispatcher called at 7:31 the next morning, tech landed in the 8 to 10 window. This is how it should work everywhere.”
“Sump pump died during that week of storms. Emergency line answered on the second ring at 11 pm, pump replaced by 1 am. Yes it cost more at night. They told me exactly how much more before rolling.”
