Heat

No heat tonight is tonight's problem, not Thursday's

24/7 no-heat response across Richmond. $89 diagnostic (illustrative), waived with the repair, and the price agreed before the panel comes off.

$89 diagnostic (illustrative) No-heat calls jump the board 2 hr window, tech texted ahead

A furnace that quits in January gets the same dispatch priority as a burst pipe. Book the next window online or call the on-call line after 8 pm, and a tech arrives with ignitors, flame sensors, pressure switches, control boards, and blower parts for the common brands already shelved in the van.

The diagnostic ends with the failed part in your hand and a flat rate book price for the fix. Approve it and the $89 fee folds into the repair. Most no-heat calls are running again inside ninety minutes of the tech's arrival.

The usual suspects

  • Furnace clicks but never lights: ignitor or flame sensor
  • Starts, runs three minutes, shuts down: flame sensor or overheating limit
  • Blower runs but the air is cold: ignition failed upstream
  • Short bursts of heat between long cold gaps: cycling on the limit switch
  • Thermostat blank or unresponsive: could be as small as a float switch or as odd as a wiring fault
  • Burning smell beyond the first autumn dust-off: stop the unit and call

Safety is not a checkbox here

Every furnace repair includes a combustion safety check whether you asked for one or not: heat exchanger inspection, carbon monoxide reading at the registers, gas connection leak test, and flue draft verification. If we ever red-tag a heat exchanger, you get the borescope photo, not just our word, and space heaters from the van while you decide next steps.

Repairs carry a 2 year parts and labor warranty (illustrative). If the unit is past its 15th winter and the repair crosses half the cost of replacing, you will see both numbers side by side and make the call yourself.

Fair questions

It is 11 pm and 20 degrees. Do you actually come?

Yes. No-heat with temperatures below freezing is a true emergency dispatch, around the clock. After-hours visits carry a posted premium that dispatch quotes before the truck rolls (illustrative demo pricing).

Why does my furnace trip the flame sensor every year?

A sensor coated in oxide reads a weak flame and shuts down for safety. Annual cleaning during the fall tune-up prevents almost all of it, which is why members rarely make this call.

Should I worry about carbon monoxide?

You should own detectors on every sleeping floor, and any Kelvin visit will test your levels free if you ask. A cracked heat exchanger is rare but is exactly why our combustion check is not optional.

What the neighbors say

4.9 average across 2,384 reviews. Fictional reviews, illustrative of format.

“The Comfort plan pays for itself in the two tune-ups alone. Furnace got flagged for a cracked ignitor in October instead of dying in January. That is the whole point.”

Priya S. · Northside, member since 2024

“New heat pump install came in $400 under the highest quote we got, and they were the only ones who put the math of the monthly payment in writing.”

Greg and Sam T. · Bellevue, heat pump installation

“Membership reminder texts actually work. I have not thought about my furnace filter in a year and a half, which is the greatest luxury I own.”

Hannah L. · Northside, Whole-Home member
