“AC quit at 1 pm on the hottest Saturday of June. Booked the 4 to 6 window from my phone, Devon showed at 4:20, capacitor swapped, cold air by 5. The price he quoted on the porch is the price I paid.”
Most breakdowns we run in July were visible in April: a capacitor reading 20 percent weak, a drain line half clogged, a contactor pitted and sticking. The Kelvin tune-up exists to catch that failure while it is still a cheap part on a calm day instead of an emergency on a 98 degree one.
This is not a hose-off-and-invoice visit. Your tech works a printed 21 point list, records actual numbers for refrigerant pressures, capacitor values, amp draws, and temperature split, and leaves you the sheet. Next year's tech sees this year's readings, which is how small drifts get caught before they are outages.
What the 21 points cover
- Electrical: capacitor values, contactor condition, amp draws against nameplate
- Refrigerant circuit: pressures, superheat and subcool, line insulation
- Airflow: filter, blower wheel, static pressure, temperature split
- Drainage: condensate line flushed, float switch tested
- Outdoor unit: coil cleaned, fins straightened, mounts checked
What happens when we find something
Findings come in three colors on your report: green is healthy, yellow is watch-it with the measurement that made us say so, and red is a rate book quote you can approve or decline on the spot. No mystery recommended repairs, and the tech who inspects is paid nothing extra for finding work.
Members never pay for the visit itself: one tune-up a year on Standby, both seasons on Comfort and Whole-Home, plus 15 to 20 percent off anything the inspection turns up (all plan figures illustrative).

Fair questions
When should I book it?
March through May is ideal for cooling, September and October for heating. Members get first claim on those windows, which is half the reason the plans exist.
Is a tune-up just a sales visit in disguise?
Our inspecting techs earn zero commission on findings, and every yellow or red item comes with the measurement that justified it. About 60 percent of tune-ups end with nothing to sell you (illustrative figure for this demo).
Does maintenance actually matter for warranty?
Most manufacturers require documented annual maintenance to honor parts warranties. The readings sheet we log to your account is exactly that documentation.

“Tina found a duct leak two other companies missed. House finally cools evenly upstairs. Worth every dollar of the diagnostic.”
“They text you a photo of your tech and where the van is. My wife was home alone with the baby and actually knew who was knocking. Small thing, huge thing.”
