AC repair with a two hour window, not a maybe

Cold air back today for most calls. $89 diagnostic (illustrative), waived when you approve the fix, flat rate quoted before we open the panel.

$89 diagnostic (illustrative) Most repairs finished same visit 2 hr window, tech texted ahead

A dead air conditioner in a Richmond July is not a schedule-it-next-week problem, so we do not treat it like one. Book a two hour window online or call dispatch, and a licensed tech lands inside it with the fifteen most common failure parts already on the van: capacitors, contactors, fan motors, drain treatments, and refrigerant on board.

The visit starts with an $89 diagnostic (illustrative demo pricing) that ends in a written finding, not a shrug. You see the failed part, the rate book line for replacing it, and the price you will pay before any work begins. Approve it and the diagnostic fee disappears into the repair. Roughly four out of five cooling calls we run are fixed in that first visit.

What we walk into most

  • Unit runs but blows warm: usually a refrigerant or compressor issue
  • Outdoor unit hums and will not start: capacitor, nine times out of ten
  • Breaker trips when the AC kicks on: electrical short or seized motor
  • Ice on the lines: airflow starvation or low charge
  • Water around the air handler: clogged condensate drain
  • Cools downstairs, swelters upstairs: duct or zoning problem, not always a repair

How the fix actually goes

Your tech confirms the diagnosis with gauges and a meter, not a guess, and photographs what failed so you see exactly what you are paying to replace. If the fix is in the rate book, and most are, you get one flat number. If the compressor is gone on a fifteen year old unit, we will tell you plainly when repair money would be better spent on replacement, with the math on paper, and zero pressure either way.

Every repair leaves with a 2 year parts and labor warranty (illustrative), the old part in the box if you want it, and system readings logged to your account so the next tech starts smarter.

Fair questions

Can you really come today?

For no-cool calls booked before 2 pm, we hit a same day window on most weekdays. The booking card shows the live windows; what you see is what dispatch is actually running (in this demo, illustrative slots).

Repair or replace, how do you call it?

Our rule of thumb is the 50 rule: if the repair costs more than half the value of a unit past 12 years old, we show you replacement math next to the repair quote. The choice stays yours; techs are paid the same either way.

Is the refrigerant my system uses still available?

R-410A is still serviceable and we stock it. Older R-22 systems can be repaired but refrigerant cost makes big leaks uneconomical, and we will say so before you spend.

What the neighbors say

4.9 average across 2,384 reviews. Fictional reviews, illustrative of format.

“AC quit at 1 pm on the hottest Saturday of June. Booked the 4 to 6 window from my phone, Devon showed at 4:20, capacitor swapped, cold air by 5. The price he quoted on the porch is the price I paid.”

Dana R. · Lakeside, AC repair

“Tina found a duct leak two other companies missed. House finally cools evenly upstairs. Worth every dollar of the diagnostic.”

Monique W. · West End, AC diagnostic

“They text you a photo of your tech and where the van is. My wife was home alone with the baby and actually knew who was knocking. Small thing, huge thing.”

Chris M. · West End, water heater
