VARN is a small, independent label with one stubborn idea: make fewer things, make them properly, and stand behind them for a decade.

A relaxed portrait of a model in VARN knitwear

The story

We started VARN in a studio above a hardware store in Hudson, knitting sweaters we could not find anywhere else. Ten fictional years later, the idea has not changed.

Most clothing is designed to be replaced. Ours is designed to be kept. We knit and cut in small runs, from wool and linen chosen for how they age rather than how cheaply they arrive, and we repair anything we make for as long as you own it. The line is deliberately short, because a short line is the only honest way to make everything well.

We have never taken outside money, never run a factory we could not visit, and never released a collection we would not wear ourselves. This is a fictional demonstration of that kind of brand, built to show how a considered fashion house can be sold online without losing its voice.

How we work

Small runs

We knit and cut in runs of a few hundred, not a few thousand. Less waste, less markdown, better wool.

Repaired for life

We fix anything we make, for as long as you own it. A hole in a sweater is a reason to keep it, not bin it.

Honest materials

Merino, linen, and suede chosen for how they age. No mystery blends, no claims we cannot stand behind.
