Hollow OakCoffee Co.

Home / Story

It started with one bad cup and a stubborn old drum.

Hollow Oak began in 2019, when a home roaster and a line cook decided Burlington deserved coffee with the roast date on the bag. This is a fictional demo, but the story is the kind we build sites around.

The bright cafe interior on Millrace Road

2019

Under the oak on Millrace Road

Delia Hollifield had been roasting in her garage for years. Marcus Reyes could pull a shot but not source a bean. They met over a genuinely terrible airport coffee, argued about why it was terrible, and signed a lease under the big oak on Millrace Road three months later.

The tree is why we are Hollow Oak, and why the roast date matters to us: coffee, like the tree, is only as good as its roots and its rings. We put both on the bag.

What we hold to

Four things we will not roast around

Roots before reach

We would rather buy one farm's coffee for ten years than chase the cheapest lot every season.

Honest by default

We publish what we pay and stamp the roast date. If a bag is not good enough, it does not ship.

A room to linger

The cafe is a place, not a drive-through. Good chairs, slow mornings, no rush to turn the table.

Lighter footprint

Recyclable bags, carbon-neutral shipping, spent grounds to the community garden two doors down.

The people

Who is behind the counter

DH

Delia Hollifield

Founder & green buyer

Sources every lot, keeps the farm relationships, still cups every batch before it bags.

MR

Marcus Reyes

Head roaster

Rebuilt the 1962 drum by hand and writes every roast curve we run.

TN

Tess Nakamura

Cafe lead

Runs the bar, trains the baristas, and knows your order before you reach the register.

People and roles are illustrative fiction for this demo.

Fresh Tuesdays

Good coffee, roots down, at your door every month.

Pick a roast, pick a rhythm, and let us handle the rest. Skip, swap, or cancel from your account whenever life does something unexpected.
