Six divisions. One survey datum.

Everything we sell is a crew, a method, and a number we are willing to publish. Jump to a division below, or read straight through: it is one integrated company, not six business cards.

Division 01

Heavy Civil & Roadway

Roadway is the spine of the company. We build interstate and arterial reconstruction, widening and interchange packages, and new alignment work, from subgrade stabilization through final striping coordination. Our paving trains run our own crews and our own rolling stock, with mix designs verified at the plant and densities logged behind the screed in real time.

Smoothness is a number, and we chase it: profilograph results feed back to the paving foreman the same day. Ride-quality incentives are not a bonus in our estimates; they are the plan.

Representative scope

  • Full-depth reconstruction and widening
  • Interchanges and structures approach work
  • Asphalt paving, milling, and overlay programs
  • Subgrade stabilization and recycling
  • Concrete paving and whitetopping
  • Phasing and traffic control engineering

Division 02

Bridges & Structures

Our structures group builds and rehabilitates bridges from single-span county crossings to multi-span interstate structures: drilled shaft and driven pile foundations, cast-in-place substructure, girder erection with our own cranes, and deck pours planned around Colorado's temperature swings rather than surprised by them.

Canyon and river work is a specialty. Falsework design, crane positioning studies, and in-water work windows are engineered before we bid, which is why our structures bids hold and our girder sets happen on the night they were scheduled.

Representative scope

  • Bridge replacement and widening
  • Drilled shafts and deep foundations
  • Cast-in-place substructure and decks
  • Girder erection and falsework
  • MSE walls and retaining systems
  • Culverts and drainage structures

Division 03

Utilities & Wet Infrastructure

Our underground crews install large-diameter transmission mains, gravity sewer, storm drain systems, and the vaults, meters, and lift stations that make them operate. Trench safety is engineered per run, dewatering is planned from the geotech report, and every joint, weld, and test is mapped into the closeout record.

Where open cut cannot go, we manage trenchless: jack-and-bore, HDD, and tunneled crossings under highways, rail, and rivers, coordinated with the same survey control as the open trench on either side.

Representative scope

  • Water transmission and distribution
  • Sanitary sewer and interceptors
  • Storm drain and detention systems
  • Lift and pump stations
  • Trenchless crossings and casing
  • Pressure testing, chlorination, closeout mapping

Division 04

Earthwork & Grading

Earthwork is where Crossgrade started and where our equipment depth shows: scrapers, excavators, articulated haulers, and GPS-controlled dozers and blades that hold design surface to a tenth. Weekly drone flights compare as-built surface to design, so quantities, shrink, and haul balance are facts on a dashboard, not arguments at pay estimate time.

We run our own crushing and screening spreads, turning on-site rock into structural fill and base course. On big-balance sites, that is routinely the difference between a pro forma that works and one that dies in trucking.

Representative scope

  • Mass excavation and embankment
  • GPS machine-control fine grading
  • Rock excavation, crushing, screening
  • Over-lot and building-pad grading
  • Erosion control and SWMP management
  • Drone-surveyed quantity reporting

Division 05

Structural Concrete

Our concrete division self-performs the structural work most heavy civil GCs broker out: bridge piers and abutments, treatment plant basins and headworks, box culverts, retaining walls, and machine foundations. Formwork is engineered in-house, pours are planned against weather and maturity curves, and finish standards are written into the pre-pour checklist, not negotiated afterward.

Water-holding structures are the acid test of a concrete crew. Our basins are poured with engineered joint layouts and tested against leakage criteria before backfill, and the test results go in the owner's book whether they flatter us or not.

Representative scope

  • Bridge substructure and decks
  • Water-holding basins and headworks
  • Box culverts and drainage structures
  • Cast-in-place and MSE walls
  • Mass concrete and machine foundations
  • Formwork engineering, in-house

Division 06

Construction Management & Alternative Delivery

Agencies and districts increasingly buy infrastructure through CM/GC and design-build, and those methods only work when the contractor's preconstruction is real. Ours is: constructability reviews on every submittal set, open-book estimates priced from our own production data, and risk registers the owner can read without a translator.

In preconstruction we earn the number; in delivery we publish against it. Guaranteed prices come with a milestone schedule as a contract exhibit, monthly reconciliation to the penny, and contingency that returns to the owner instead of evaporating.

Representative scope

  • CM/GC and CMAR delivery
  • Design-build and progressive design-build
  • Constructability and bidability reviews
  • Open-book estimating and GMP development
  • Risk registers and schedule risk analysis
  • Public engagement and phasing support
